Somali Forces Foil Kharijite Plot in Joint Operation in Hiran and Middle Shabelle

Hiran, SONNA – Somali security forces, in collaboration with local residents, conducted a successful planned operation in areas under Moqokori district in the Hiran region, targeting Kharijite militants who were preparing attacks on civilians in recently liberated areas. The preemptive action disrupted a major plot aimed at destabilizing communities gathering in Tuulo Mabaax (Hiran) and Tawakal (Middle Shabelle).

The joint forces launched the operation based on credible intelligence that the militants were regrouping in remote areas to launch coordinated attacks against peaceful populations. Security officials confirmed that several militants were killed during the operation and multiple enemy positions were destroyed. The residents of Tuulo Mabaax and Tawakal had been participating in community gatherings and peacebuilding efforts following the liberation of their areas from Kharijite control. The militant group had sought to disrupt this growing stability.

Officials praised the collaboration between security forces and local communities, emphasizing that the unity of the people and their cooperation with the government are essential in the ongoing campaign to eliminate extremist threats from Somalia’s central regions.

This latest success adds momentum to the nationwide operations aimed at eradicating the Kharijites insurgency and restoring lasting peace in liberated territories. The Ministry of Defense reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and preventing the resurgence of militant threats across the country.
