Kuala Lumpur, (SONNA) — A high-level Somali delegation has concluded a week-long workshop titled “Public Service Reform and Competency-Based Performance Management for Somali Delegation” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The program focused on strengthening institutional capacity and improving performance management within Somalia’s public sector.
The delegation, comprising officials from both Federal and Federal Member State institutions, engaged in in-depth knowledge exchange sessions and visited several key Malaysian government bodies. These included the Ministry of Public Service, the Public Service Department, and the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), where they explored Malaysia’s best practices in public service reform and human resource development.
Organized with the support of the Somalia Enhancing Public Resource Management Project (SERP) and funded by the World Bank, the workshop aimed to enhance Somalia’s ongoing efforts toward civil service reform, competency-based performance frameworks, and governance modernization.
Participating institutions included the Civil Service Commissions at both federal and state levels, the Ministries of Labour and Social Affairs, and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia.
The workshop marked a significant step toward aligning Somalia’s public sector with international standards and fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and institutional resilience.
