Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somali Custodial Force, the section of the police force that is responsible for the maintenance and guarding of prisons, marked its 54th anniversary on Thursday.
The commander of the Somali custodial Force, Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Adan, congratulated the custodial officers and their families on this occasion and wished them progress and prosperity in the coming years.
The anniversary ceremony was attended by various heads of government agencies, such as the council of governors, members of the two parliament, the military command and the judiciary.
The Somali Custodial Force was established on February 22, 1970. The Somali Custodial Force has played a vital role in maintaining law and order in the country, especially in the face of the ongoing insurgency by the militant group Al-Shabaab. It has also contributed to the reform and rehabilitation of prisoners and the improvement of prison conditions.
