Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, held its weekly meeting today and approved two MoUs between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on cooperation in the fields of media and culture.
The meeting also heard security briefings from the Commander of the Somali Police Force and the Commander of the Banadir Regional Police, who presented updates on progress made in maintaining security across the capital and the country, as well as preparations to ensure a safe environment for the upcoming local council elections in Banadir region.
The Cabinet commended the Somali National Armed Forces for their continued successes in the fight against the Al-Shabaab militants and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of Somali citizens.
Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers condemned recent acts of violence against innocent civilians, describing them as contrary to Somali culture and Islamic values, and directed the security agencies to bring all perpetrators to justice.
