Ceeldheer, (SONNA) — The Somali National Army is continuing to collect the bodies of Al-Shabaab militants around the town of Ceeldheer in Galgaduud region, following heavy clashes on Friday.
The terrorists attempted a surprise attack on the town but were met with a strong response from government forces.
Minister of Defence Ahmed Moallim Fiqi confirmed to state media that more than 60 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed and over 50 others wounded in the battle.
The army also captured several prisoners along with weapons and military equipment.
