Mogadishu (SONNA) – Somalia’s Ambassador to Yemen, H.E. Abdihakin Haji Mohamed, has affirmed the deep-rooted and friendly relationship between the governments of Somalia and Yemen.
Speaking as a guest on the “Weekly Meeting” program on national media, the Ambassador provided a comprehensive overview of the bilateral ties and reported on the current situation of the Somali refugee community residing in Yemen.
Ambassador Mohamed emphasized that the two nations share a “deep relationship” built upon a strong foundation of cooperation in trade, security, and diplomacy.
The Ambassador also provided a detailed update on the Somali community in Yemen, which includes both refugees and a broader diaspora. He described their overall situation as “good.”
Detailing his diplomatic engagement, Ambassador Mohamed stated that he has personally visited the refugee camps to assess the conditions. During these visits, he met with community committees and representatives, listening directly to their concerns and any complaints they had.
The Ambassador confirmed that he has escalated these concerns to the highest levels of the Yemeni government to find resolutions.
“I have discussed the refugees’ complaints with Yemeni government officials, primarily the country’s Minister of Interior,” said Ambassador Mohamed.
He concluded by noting that the Yemeni government has provided assurances and “promised to address” the issues raised by the Somali refugee community.
