Copenhagen, SONNA — Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Mohamed Sheikh Isaq, has participated in a meeting of African ambassadors based in South Africa, where key international and regional issues were discussed, including developments affecting Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting brought together African envoys to formally discuss matters related to international relations and intergovernmental affairs, with particular focus on actions impacting peace, security, and stability on the continent.
During the discussions, the issue of Israel was raised, amid accusations of illegally recognizing parts of the territory of the Federal Republic of Somalia, particularly in the northern regions.
Addressing the meeting, Ambassador Mohamed Sheikh Isaq delivered a keynote statement, firmly asserting that any attempt to interfere with the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia is unacceptable and constitutes a violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The Ambassador warned that such actions risk transferring tensions from the Middle East into Somali territory, posing a serious threat to regional peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
Ambassadors in attendance expressed their opposition to the Israeli move, noting that it undermines regional stability. They stressed the importance of safeguarding the territorial integrity and air sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The Federal Republic of Somalia has reiterated its unwavering position on defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling on the international community to respect Somalia’s independence and adhere to international legal frameworks and decisions.
