Mogadishu, (SONNA) – As part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the humanitarian impact of the fight against Al-Shabaab terrorists, Somalia’s Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) sent a team of doctors and officials to assess the condition of Cadale District Hospital in the Middle Shabelle region. The facility has been out of service for the past three months, leading to the deterioration of some offices and a growing need for medical equipment and infrastructure support.
The inspection team was led by Abdihussein Abdi, Director of Operations at SoDMA’s National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC). During the visit, Cadale’s Health Coordinator, Dr. Osman Mohamed Mahmoud Jabshe, briefed the team on the hospital’s current state and the urgent assistance required, especially as the country continues to grapple with conflict.
SoDMA pledged to support the hospital’s rehabilitation and equip it to serve as a key medical hub, aiming to reduce casualties from the ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab. The delegation toured various sections of the hospital, witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by medical staff and the community.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen emergency medical response capabilities in conflict-affected areas, ensuring civilians and frontline forces have access to life-saving care.
