Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), a key entity in addressing the nation’s humanitarian needs and bolstering stabilization efforts, today dispatched a convoy of ten trucks laden with food aid to communities in Lower Shabelle Region severely impacted by ongoing fighting with Al-Khawarij militants.
The vital assistance is specifically earmarked for “Area Number 50” and its surrounding villages, where residents have been displaced from their homes and farmlands due to the conflict. SoDMA Commissioner, Mr. Mahmoud Moalim Abdulle, personally handed over the food provisions, designed to reach an estimated six thousand (6,000) families, to the Commissioner of Area Number 50 and the relief coordinator for the Lower Shabelle Region.
Speaking to the media, Commissioner Abdulle insisted that the aid is specifically intended for vulnerable individuals who have been forced to abandon their homes and livelihoods by the “enemy.” He also extended his sincere gratitude to the Chinese government for their recent contribution of this crucial aid to Somalia, highlighting the importance of international solidarity in humanitarian response.
This latest delivery marks another significant intervention by SoDMA in the Southwest regions, reaffirming the agency’s steadfast commitment to assisting the Somali people across the entire country. SoDMA continues its dedicated efforts to provide relief and support to populations affected by conflict and natural disasters, striving to strengthen resilience and promote stability within Somalia.
