Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali National Army killed five Al-Shabaab terrorists in operations in the Middle Shabelle region. Among those killed are key figures known for orchestrating attacks against Somali forces and civilians.
The slain militants include Xasan Cabdiwaaxid Cabdi Dhicisoow (also known as Xasan Gureey), who was a prominent commander in Al-Shabaab responsible for several major attacks in areas such as Cowsweyne and Ceel Cali Axmed. His death marks a significant blow to the group’s combat capabilities.
Other notable casualties include Daahir Buuxsade, known for his brutal tactics against vulnerable Somali children, and commanders Khaalid Jiis, Anas, and Casaam, all of whom played influential roles in the Al-Shabaab hierarchy. These operations not only highlight the ongoing efforts of the Somali National Army to combat Al-Shabaab terrorism but also signal a major setback for the organization in the region.
The recent killings are part of a broader campaign to dismantle the leadership of Al-Shabaab, which has been responsible for countless atrocities against the Somali population. The increase in casualties among the militants indicates a growing effectiveness of the military operations targeting this extremist group.
The Somali army seized weapons and ammunition from the militants, and destroyed vehicles used by the terrorist group. The army is still in pursuit of the remnants of the terrorist militiamen who fled the scene after the army killed several leaders.
