Mogadishu – (SONNA) – The second National Monitoring and Evaluation Conference officially opened today in Mogadishu, organized by the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, with the participation of government officials, international partners, and experts in monitoring and evaluation.

The conference is held this year at the Mogadishu Airport Hangar under the theme:

“2nd National Monitoring and Evaluation Conference: Evidence to Action – Strengthening the National Evaluation System to Drive Somalia’s National Transformation Plan 2025–2029.”

The conference aims to enhance national monitoring and evaluation systems and translate reliable data and results into policies and decisions supporting the implementation of the National Transformation Plan 2025–2029.

The Director General of the Ministry of Planning, Mr. Mohamed Shayir, presented the expected outcomes of the conference, emphasizing the importance of linking monitoring and evaluation data to public policy to improve institutional performance.

High-level participants include the President of the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Mahmoud Abdulkareem Ghibiri, alongside representatives from the United Nations, the World Bank, and the British Embassy, including Dr. Christopher Pickroft and Mr. George Conway.

Discussions during the conference will focus on developing the national evaluation framework, improving government program oversight, and issuing practical recommendations to accelerate the country’s national transformation over the coming years.
