Prime Minister of Australia sends his happy wishes of the Eid Al Adha to the Muslims across the world

Embedded in the traditions and culture of Islam, Eid al-Adha is a time of sacrifice and giving back. The acts of charity that are so much a part of this festival imbue the season with compassion and care.

This holy feast of sacrifice unites Muslims around the world, as you come together to honor and reflect upon your faith. Here at home, the boundless generosity and powerful community spirit of Muslim Australians is an inspiration to so many.

The story of Australia’s Muslim communities stretches over centuries, enriching our national life and social fabric. Australia’s diversity is such a source of strength and pride, and our Muslim communities contribute so deeply to this treasured asset.

This year Eid will be especially difficult for many, as you bear witness to the ongoing suffering and devastation in Gaza. My government is resolute in our call for a permanent ceasefire and an enduring peace, so we can rebuild the lives and homes of the people of Gaza.

As you offer prayers for an end to the conflict, I hope you find solace and strength in the embrace of faith and community.

Eid Mubarak.
