Mogadishu(SONNA)-Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre has on Monday officially opened the 7th national economic policy forum in Mogadishu, a gathering aimed at debating and promoting our country’s economic development and investment opportunities within various sectors.
Under the theme “Somalia’s development nexus: economy, governance, and social development,” the forum seeks to address key aspects of Somalia’s growth prospects, including post-HIPC initiative economic strategies, agricultural advancements, food security, the benefits of a blue economy, and ensuring inclusive growth with a particular emphasis on women’s empowerment.
Prime Minister Barre has emphasized the significance of the Forum as a pivotal platform for driving economic transformation and sectoral development across the country, underlining its crucial role in shaping the future of Somalia’s economy.
Hassan Adam Hosow, Chief Economic Advisor to the President, stated: “Evidence-based policymaking is crucial for ensuring sustainable transformation in Somalia’s post-debt relief journey.”
The National Economic Council serves as a government research institution responsible for socio-economic policy analysis and coordinating economic institutions.
