Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has traveled to the frontlines of the ongoing offensive against militant insurgents, showing solidarity with the Somali National Army (SNA) and local fighters leading the battle.
During his visit, the president will assess the situation on the ground and receive briefings from military commanders spearheading the operations. In recent days, Somali forces have inflicted heavy losses on the militants as part of the broader effort to eradicate their presence in the region.
President Mohamud’s visit comes at a time of widespread public support, both within Somalia and among the diaspora, for the government’s intensified campaign to defeat the militants and restore peace and stability.
