Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has registered at a voter registration centre in Warta-Nabadda District, praising the National Electoral Commission for steps taken towards holding direct elections in Somalia.
He urged all Somali citizens to take advantage of the registration process to secure their constitutional right to choose leaders and representatives they trust with the country’s future.
The President described the move towards a one-person, one-vote system as a long-awaited national aspiration enshrined in the provisional constitution, returning to the people the power to decide their leadership at the federal, state, and district levels.
He also commended the security forces, district authorities, and local communities for their responsible role in facilitating the voter registration process.
