LAS ANOD, Somalia – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, received a high-ranking delegation from the Republic of Djibouti at his residence in the city of Las Anod. The Djiboutian officials arrived in the administrative capital of the North Eastern State to participate in the historic inauguration ceremony of the region’s newly elected leadership.
During the meeting, President Mohamud conveyed the deep and historical gratitude of the Somali government and people towards their Djiboutian brothers and sisters. He highlighted the critical role Djibouti has played in standing alongside Somalia during its most challenging periods, particularly in the defense of national independence and territorial integrity. The President formally acknowledged Djibouti’s consistent support for peace, state-building, and the ongoing development of the Somali nation.
In response, the Djiboutian officials extended their congratulations to the Federal Government for its recent diplomatic achievements in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. The delegation reiterated the Republic of Djibouti’s firm position regarding the protection of the nationhood and territorial cohesion of the Federal Republic of Somalia, stating that their commitment to a united Somalia remains absolute.
The distinguished delegation from Djibouti includes the Minister of Religion and Endowments, H.E. Mu’min Hassan Barre, the Minister of Communication, H.E. Ridwan Abdullahi Bahdon, and the Djiboutian Ambassador to Somalia, alongside other senior officials. Their presence in Las Anod signals the enduring strength of the strategic and fraternal relationship between the two nations.
