DOHA, Qatar – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a high-level bilateral meeting today in Doha with the Emir of the State of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The discussions centered on reinforcing the historic relationship between the two nations and addressing key regional developments.
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the progress of previously signed cooperation agreements, particularly those focusing on infrastructure investment, security collaboration, and diplomatic engagement.
President Mohamud provided a comprehensive update to Emir Tamim regarding the current situation in Somalia. He outlined the Federal Government’s successful implementation of state-building reforms, the ongoing offensive against terrorist groups, and the country’s historic transition toward direct elections—a pivotal step in Somalia’s democratization process.
For his part, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the Somali government and its people. The Emir expressed his country’s commitment to playing a prominent role in fostering Somalia’s development and long-term stability, pledging continued assistance across various sectors.
The meeting shows the robust diplomatic alliance between Mogadishu and Doha, with both leaders agreeing to further deepen their partnership to advance mutual interests and regional security.
