Mogadishu, SONNA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today welcomed former Presidents, Prime Ministers, Speakers of Parliament, and other national figures to the National Presidency as part of the ongoing National Consultation Forum. The high-level meeting is part of a continued effort to build consensus on Somalia’s path toward democratic governance, national stability, and lasting peace.

The discussions, which build on the forum previously inaugurated in Mogadishu, are focused on three major national priorities: completing the constitutional review process, establishing a direct electoral system, and enhancing collective efforts to eliminate terrorism in the country.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue and institutional memory in shaping Somalia’s political future. He noted that bringing together former leaders reflects the government’s commitment to collaborative governance and nation-building through shared wisdom and experience.

The National Consultation Forum represents a strategic platform for aligning federal and regional priorities, reinforcing the constitutional framework, and promoting inclusive political processes that are rooted in transparency and public participation.

President Mohamud reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to steering Somalia toward direct elections and a more accountable political system. He also underscored the urgent need to intensify the fight against terrorism and consolidate national security.

The ongoing forum continues to receive broad support from political stakeholders, civil society, and international partners, who see it as a critical step toward achieving Somalia’s long-term goals of peace, development, and inclusive governance.
