Mogadishu, SONNA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today received the new Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Dagvin R.M. Anderson, accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, His Excellency Richard H. Riley.
The meeting focused on strengthening Somalia–U.S. cooperation in key areas, including security, counterterrorism, and stabilization initiatives.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended AFRICOM’s vital role in supporting Somalia’s ongoing security sector reforms and emphasized the Federal Government’s determination to continue advancing peace and stability in collaboration with international partners.
General Anderson reaffirmed the United States’ continued commitment to working closely with Somalia in countering terrorism and fostering long-term stability in the Horn of Africa.
The visit underscored the enduring partnership between Somalia and the United States in addressing shared security challenges and promoting regional stability.
