MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has issued a strong statement of commendation to the elite Danab Special Forces and the Jubbaland regional security forces following a successful defensive operation in the Lower Juba region. The Prime Minister praised the vigilance and combat readiness of the joint forces, who decisively thwarted an attempted surprise assault by Kharijite militias on the strategic coastal town of Kudhaa.

The incident occurred when militant groups launched a coordinated ambush intended to destabilize the area and inflict harm on the local population. However, the combined strength of the Somali National Army’s Danab commando unit and the Jubbaland Darwish forces effectively neutralized the threat before the attackers could gain a foothold. The swift reaction by the security forces prevented potential civilian casualties and ensured the continued safety of the town, which serves as a vital logistical point in the region.

In his official communication, Prime Minister Barre highlighted the bravery and professional coordination displayed by the troops on the ground. He noted that this victory serves as a clear indication of the improved capabilities and synergy between the federal and regional security sectors. The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is fully committed to supporting these frontline heroes who are dedicated to eradicating the remnants of terror groups from the country’s southern territories.

Kudhaa holds significant strategic value due to its location along the coastline of the Lower Juba region. Securing this area is crucial for cutting off maritime supply routes often utilized by insurgent groups. The successful defense of the town demonstrates the Federal Government’s tightening grip on security in the Jubbaland state and its resolve to protect key economic and logistical hubs from aggression. This latest success reinforces the momentum of the ongoing offensive against the Kharijites, sending a stern warning that the security forces remain on high alert to defend the nation’s sovereignty and peace.
