The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led by its Permanent Secretary, His Excellency Hamza Adan Haadoow , held a strategic meeting with IOM Somalia Country Director, Mr. Manuel Marques Pereira, to discuss irregular migration and its impact. The discussions focused on sustainable solutions to address migration challenges and alleviate human suffering caused by illegal migrations, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring safe and dignified migration pathways.
The meeting also explored ways to align IOM’s efforts with Somalia’s National Transformation Plan, a five-year strategy to drive the country’s progress across key sectors. His Excellency Hamza Haadow highlighted the Ministry’s leadership in fostering partnerships that advance Somalia’s development goals and reaffirmed its role in spearheading initiatives to build a prosperous and resilient nation.
Mr. Marques Pereira lauded the Ministry’s proactive approach and stressed the need for international partners to focus on Somalia’s potential and developmental opportunities. He reiterated IOM’s support for Somalia’s transformative agenda and its readiness to collaborate on initiatives that foster sustainable progress.
