Mogadishu, SONNA – The parliamentary committee on transport, aviation, and public works visited the headquarters of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) on Wednesday to assess its performance and challenges.

The committee, led by MP Abdillahi Geel-Qaad and his deputy MP Mohamud Ahmed Baafo, met with the Minister of Transport and Aviation MP Fardowsa Egal, the Minister of State for Aviation MP Abdi Haydar, and the SCAA manager Ahmed Moallim.

The committee discussed the current situation of aviation safety in Somalia and the obstacles facing the management of the country’s airspace. They also explored ways to enhance the security and safety of the aircrafts using the Somali air routes.

The committee toured the various offices and facilities of the SCAA and interviewed the staff and operators about their work and challenges. They commended them for their efficiency and dedication to the national interest.

The committee urged the ministry and the agency to focus on their tasks and to be vigilant about any potential threats to the safety of Somalia’s airspace.
