Mogadishu:- Members of the Somali Federal Parliament on Monday discussed a motion on the new tax, value added taxes (VAT)on merchants in which the Ministry of Finance introduced that took effect yesterday.
The Minister of Finance, Bihi Iman Egeh explained the stages that the tax has passed through, saying it is was first introduced in 1984. he recounted the progress made in the financial reform, challenges and opportunities.
The Members welcomed how the Government handled the concerns of Tuk-tuk drivers who protested against high taxes, fines and other payments in obtaining licenses and challenges at Mogadishu seaport yesterday.
