Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, carried out an airstrike in Ceel-Bacad, Middle Shabelle region, killing over 20 Al-Shabaab militants, including a senior commander.
The operation targeted Yusuf Dheg-naas, a key figure in Al-Shabaab’s extortion network, who had been intimidating local communities to collect illegal taxes. Several combat vehicles used by the militants were also destroyed in the raid.
The Somali National Army and NISA, with support from global allies, have intensified efforts to eliminate the remaining Al-Shabaab strongholds, delivering a significant blow to the group’s operational capacity.
