Mogadishu, SONNA – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Da’ud Aweys Jama, Deputy Minister Cabdirahman Yusuf Omar Al-Cadaala, Director General Abdullahi Hayir Ducaale, departmental directors and staff of the Ministry, extend their heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of the late Eng. Mahamud Ali Guuleed, one of the pioneering technicians of Radio Mogadishu – the Voice of the Somali Republic – who passed away today in Mogadishu.
The late Eng. Guuleed joined Radio Mogadishu in the 1950s after receiving professional training in Germany and Italy. He went on to become the first head of technical operations at Radio Mogadishu, a role he held for many years.
Even after the civil war and the collapse of state institutions, he remained at Radio Mogadishu. When the National Radio was re-established in October 2009, he was among the respected veterans who welcomed and supported its revival.
The Ministry extends its deepest sympathy to his family, children and the wider media fraternity, praying to Allah to grant him His mercy and Jannah, and to bestow patience and strength upon his loved ones.
