Mogadishu, (SONNA) — In a successful intelligence-led operation carried out last night, Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) eliminated at least seven members of the Al-Shabaab militant group in Buulo-Xoog, a village under the Buq-Aqable area in the Hiiraan region.
The pre-planned operation also resulted in the destruction of two military transport trucks loaded with weapons and fighters. The vehicles had been under close surveillance by NISA prior to the strike.
According to intelligence sources, the Al-Shabaab militants were returning from the Shaw area and heading toward Buq-Aqable when they were intercepted and neutralized. The agency had verified their movements before executing the operation.
Authorities confirmed the seizure and destruction of the vehicles, weapons, and fighters at the scene. This operation marks another step in the ongoing campaign to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s logistical and operational networks across the country.
NISA also announced that high-resolution footage and photographic evidence captured during the mission will be released to the Somali public to highlight the significant blow dealt to the terrorist group.
