Pretoria (SONNA) — The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has launched a new service center at the Somali Embassy in South Africa to provide National ID registration services to Somali citizens.
The official inauguration ceremony, held at the embassy premises, was officiated by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to South Africa, Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Isaq, in the presence of embassy diplomats and staff.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Mohamed Sheikh Isaq urged embassy diplomats and staff to deliver transparent, efficient, and people-centered services to Somali citizens seeking to obtain the National Identification Card through the embassy.
The new service was widely welcomed, particularly by members of the Somali diaspora living in Southern African countries, who praised the Federal Government of Somalia for extending this vital public service abroad. The initiative is expected to significantly ease access to National ID cards for Somalis in the region and is regarded as a major milestone in strengthening national identity systems and citizen services.
