Dhuusamareeb, SONNA – A significant milestone in Somalia’s efforts to enhance civil registration and identification services was achieved last night with the inauguration of a new National Registration and Identification Office in Dhuusamareeb. The ceremony, attended by high-ranking officials and community leaders, marks a critical step toward improving governance and service delivery in the region.

The event was graced by the presence of Galmudug State President Ahmed Abdi Qoorqoor, Director of the National Registration and Identification Authority Abdiweli Ali, and members of both houses of parliament representing the state. Also in attendance were the Mayor of Dhuusamareeb, representatives from community organizations, and other distinguished guests.

During the ceremony, Garaad Abdinur Hassan, Head of the National Registration and Identification Authority, highlighted the agency’s ongoing efforts to expand its services across the country. He emphasized the importance of providing national registration and identification services to citizens in federal member states, including Galmudug, and the Banadir region.

The newly launched office in Dhuusamareeb is expected to play an important role in issuing national identification cards, registering citizens, and maintaining vital records. These services are crucial for improving access to government programs, enhancing security, and facilitating economic and social development.

President Ahmed Abdi Qoorqoor praised the initiative, stating that the establishment of the office reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening institutions and ensuring that all citizens have access to essential services. He also expressed gratitude to the National Registration and Identification Authority for its efforts to extend its reach to remote and underserved areas.

The Director of the National Registration and Identification Authority, Abdiweli Ali, reiterated the agency’s dedication to providing efficient and reliable services to all Somalis. He noted that the Dhuusamareeb office is part of a broader strategy to decentralize registration and identification services, making them more accessible to citizens across the country.

The launch of the office in Dhuusamareeb is a prove to the collaborative efforts between the federal government, federal member states, and local authorities. It shows the importance of national identification systems in promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
