Mogadishu, Somalia – The Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs has inaugurated the national-level Qur’an recitation competition in a ceremony that saw the participation of high-ranking officials and scholars.
The event, which marks its second year of support from the President of the Somali federal government, welcomed students from various regions including Jubbaland, South West, Hirshabelle, Galmudug, and Khatumo.
Officials and scholars alike commended the country’s leadership for their dedication to the development of the Holy Qur’an. They urged continued governmental support for these efforts, highlighting the importance of teaching students’ interpretation and the Arabic language to enable them to compete internationally.
Sharif Ibrahim Abdullahi Ali, the chairman of the Qur’an Competition Judiciary, and Ali Haji Dahir, chairman of the Justice, Endowment and Religious Affairs Committee of the People’s Assembly, expressed their appreciation for the educational focus on the Qur’an.
Mukhtar Robow Ali, the Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs of the federal government, expressed gratitude towards the President of Somalia and the Prime Minister for their commitment to promoting the Qur’an competition, which is seen as a vital component of the nation’s cultural and religious development.
