Mogadishu, (SONNA) – This workshop, which benefited about 25 journalists from both private and national media outlets, focused on enhancing the role of the media in reporting news and producing programs related to the country’s elections.

The two-day training was organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism in collaboration with the United Nation’s Transition Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS) to strengthen the role of the media in the electoral process.

Fartuun Ahmed Hassan, Director of the Human Resources and Training Department at the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, encouraged the journalists who attended the training to promote election transparency and to guide the public effectively.

Abdullahi Hayir Duale, Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia , officially closed the training, urging participants to uphold the responsibilities and principles of the media in building public trust and balancing election-related news and information.
