Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Ministry of Family Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, together with the Banadir Women’s Association, civil society organizations, and women politicians, organized a meeting in Mogadishu today to issue a peace appeal. The statement urged an end to the ongoing conflicts in parts of the country, which have inflicted harm on both sides involved in the fighting.

During the meeting, the women emphasized the vital importance of peace and stability, stating that the senseless loss of Somali lives must come to an end. They reiterated their unwavering commitment to contributing to any efforts aimed at resolving conflicts and fostering harmony.

Deputy Minister of Family Affairs, H.E. Hanaan Abdiasiid Barre, underscored the Ministry’s clear message, highlighting the role of women in advocating for peace. She called for collective efforts to halt the bloodshed, stressing the devastating toll the violence has on Somali sons, brothers, and children.

“The Ministry, together with women from all walks of life, is determined to strengthen initiatives to end the senseless spilling of Somali blood. These are our sons, our brothers, and our children, and we must take every step to bring this violence to an end,” said Deputy Minister Barre.

The peace appeal reflects the Ministry’s broader commitment to fostering dialogue and reconciliation to achieve lasting peace and stability across the country.
