Mogadishu, SONNA – The Ministry of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia has confirmed that a suicide bomber affiliated with the Al-Shabaab terrorist group detonated an explosive device outside Jaalle Siyaad Military College in Mogadishu late Monday morning.
According to an official statement released by the Ministry, the attack occurred at approximately 11:20 AM and was perpetrated by a suicide bomber who targeted the entrance of the college. The incident is the latest in a string of desperate attempts by Al-Shabaab to disrupt Somalia’s ongoing state-building and stabilization efforts.
“An explosion occurred at around 11:20 AM this morning in front of Jaalle Siyaad College, carried out by a suicide bomber from the Al-Shabaab terrorist group,” the Ministry stated.
Security forces swiftly secured the area and launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. The Ministry has pledged to share further findings with the Somali public once the investigation is complete.
