Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Ports and Marine Transport of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Mohamoud Adan Geesood welcomed a high-level delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, led by the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Technology, Eng. Saciid Bin Xaamud Bin Saciid Al-macawali. The visit, attended by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Fardowsa Xildhaan, Fardowsa Cismaan Cigaal, and the General Manager of Mogadishu Port, Ahmed Mahamed (Washington), aims to strengthen bilateral relations.
Minister Geesood provided the Omani delegation with insights into the extensive work the Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport is undertaking for the Somali people, particularly at the Mogadishu Port. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enhancing services for the Somali public, sharing the progress made in the country, investment opportunities, and the development of both small and large fishing ports. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to boost the blue economy, ensure coastal safety, and strengthen maritime security.
In response, Eng. Saciid Bin Xaamud Bin Saciid Al-macawali expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation. He commended the Federal Government’s achievements in security, counter-terrorism efforts, and the development of the country’s infrastructure.
The meeting underscores the growing partnership between Somalia and Oman, focusing on cooperation in maritime transport and economic development.
