Mogadishu — The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Saalim Caliyow Ibrow, today received the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, for discussions aimed at advancing cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on strengthening ongoing agreements between Somalia’s Ministry of Labour and its counterpart in Türkiye, particularly programmes that support employment, skills development, and social welfare.
Minister Saalim Caliyow Ibrow thanked the ambassador for his visit and underscored Somalia’s priority to expand opportunities for Somali workers. He called on Türkiye to support vocational and technical training initiatives that would enhance the skills and capabilities of the Somali workforce, noting that Türkiye remains a longstanding and reliable partner to Somalia.
Ambassador Aktaş appreciated the warm welcome and reaffirmed Türkiye’s readiness to continue its support for Somali-led labour and social development efforts.
