Nairobi, (SONNA) – The Somali Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Bashir Mohamed Jama, along with a delegation on a working visit to Kenya, conducted an official visit to the Kenyan Ministry of Environment. He was accompanied by the Somali Ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, and was warmly received by the Kenyan Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Adan Barre Ducaale.
Following the reception, the two ministers and their accompanying officials held a meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the two ministries, enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, and environmental conservation.
The ministers agreed on the importance of protecting and preventing deforestation, a critical issue for the people and the environment. They jointly acknowledged the impact of climate change on the communities of both Somalia and Kenya.
Ambassador Jabril also addressed the meeting, highlighting the necessity for both governments to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on environmental development and to appoint technical committees to expedite the process.
This meeting underscores the commitment of both Somalia and Kenya to work together in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
