Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Jibriil Abdirashid Haji, has extended heartfelt congratulations and commendations to the officers, non-commissioned officers, enlisted personnel of the Somali National Army (SNA), and their families on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Army’s founding, marked annually on April 12.
In his message, Minister Jibriil underscored the pivotal role the Somali National Army has played in defending the sovereignty and existence of the Somali nation since its establishment on April 12, 1960. He praised the Army’s ongoing commitment and bravery in serving the Somali people.
“Our armed forces are heroes who sacrifice their lives for the protection of our nation, our religion, and our people. I pray that Allah accepts the martyrdom of those who have fallen and grants a swift recovery to the wounded,” he stated.
The Defence Minister also called on all Somalis to stand in solidarity with the Somali National Army and to fully support their ongoing efforts in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
“It is a national duty to support the brave members of the Somali National Army, who are currently risking their lives in operations to liberate the country from the Khawarij enemy,” he added.
