Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Mohamed Abdi Hayir (Maareeye), along with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H.E Bashir Mohamed Jama conducted an inspection visit to the Malco Foods storage facility.
The visit aimed to assess the facility’s operations, particularly its food storage and management systems. The ministers received a briefing from Malco Foods officials and commended the company for its commitment to ensuring food quality and storage. They also reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering collaboration between the ministry and private sector companies. Malco Foods has been actively involved in maintaining food safety and stockpiling essential supplies.
During the visit, special attention was given to the facility’s role in stabilizing food security and supporting domestic production. Minister Maareeye emphasized the need for close cooperation to enhance the national food storage system, while the Minister of Environment and Climate Change highlighted the importance of environmental protection and climate adaptation.
This visit is part of the Somali government’s broader efforts to strengthen food security and boost local production, ensuring long-term sustainability in the sector.
