Mogadishu, SONNA – The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Moallim Mohamud, held a productive meeting today with the Ministers of Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Member States to review progress and outline next steps in finalizing the country’s Constitution.

The meeting highlighted key achievements, including the completion of the report on Chapters 5–9 of the Constitution and its submission to the Constitutional Committee of Parliament, following Parliament’s earlier approval of Chapters 1–4.

Discussions focused on strategies to accelerate consultations on the remaining Chapters 10–15, ensuring that the review process continues smoothly and inclusively.

Minister Hassan Moallim reaffirmed the Federal Government’s firm commitment to completing the constitutional process. “The government is working to expedite the technical preparations of the remaining chapters for submission to Parliament,” he said.

The Ministers of Constitutional Affairs from the regional states also shared updates on their respective progress in local consultations and outlined their priority plans. They pledged to continue close collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and the Parliamentary Constitutional Committee to ensure the successful completion of Somalia’s Constitution — a cornerstone of national unity and governance.
