Mogadishu, SONNA — The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Da’ud Aweis Jama, has held a meeting with members of the Somalia Tourism Association (SOMTA) to discuss ways to strengthen efforts aimed at developing Somalia’s tourism sector.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation to promote Somali tourism as a key driver of the country’s image, economic growth, job creation, and social integration.
During the discussions, Minister Da’ud Aweis emphasized that the Federal Government of Somalia attaches special importance to tourism services, noting that the sector has the potential to contribute significantly to national development. He stated that the government is committed to implementing key measures to ensure Somali tourism aligns with regional and global standards.
The Minister commended SOMTA and other organizations that have demonstrated strong commitment to the growth of Somali tourism, highlighting that the sector has recently begun to attract positive international media attention.
Members of the Somalia Tourism Association presented a brief report on their ongoing activities, expressing appreciation for the Federal Government’s support and assistance in promoting tourism services across the country.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of the government and private sector stakeholders to revitalize Somalia’s tourism industry and position it as a viable contributor to economic recovery and national branding.
