SONNA Mogadishu – Somalia’s financial technology sector has reached a new milestone as Hormuud Telecom and Golis Telecom have officially become Certified Mobile Money Providers. This means that they have met the international standards for providing secure and reliable mobile money services. This is a great achievement for both companies and for the region’s digital financial landscape.

The certification was awarded by a leading international body that specializes in digital finance. The body assessed the security, efficiency, and customer service standards of the companies’ mobile money platforms. The certification process was rigorous and thorough.

Hormuud Telecom is a well-known player in Somalia’s telecommunication sector. In 2011, Hormuud expanded its services to include mobile banking and financial transactions. This was part of the company’s vision to foster financial inclusion and digital transformation in the country.

Golis Telecom operates mainly in the Puntland region. It has also integrated mobile money services into its offerings. The certification confirms its position as a leading provider of digital financial solutions in the area.

Both companies have expressed their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service and security. They aim to further innovate their platforms to offer more comprehensive financial solutions to their customers.

The certification of Hormuud Telecom and Golis Telecom comes at a time when digital transactions are becoming more important, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The certification will boost consumer confidence in mobile money services and contribute to the broader economic growth of the region.

This development also shows the growing importance of digital financial services in Africa, where mobile money has become a key element of economic activity. It highlights the potential of technology to drive financial inclusion and economic development in the continent.
