Middle Shabelle, SONNA – Hirshabelle State President Ali Abdullahi Hussein Guudlawe marked Eid al-Fitr alongside Somali National Army (SNA) troops engaged in ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab militants in the Middle Shabelle region.
Accompanied by SODMA Commissioner Mahmoud Moalim Abdulle, politicians, and prominent intellectuals, President Guudlawe praised the bravery of government forces and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eradicating the “Khawarij” (a term often used to refer to Al-Shabaab).
The visit comes as Hirshabelle forces, in collaboration with the SNA, intensify military operations to dislodge Al-Shabaab from its remaining strongholds in Middle Shabelle. Officials reported fierce battles in recent days, with government troops advancing in key areas.
President Guudlawe hailed the troops’ sacrifices, stating, “The Khawarij enemy will be defeated. This operation marks a decisive step toward liberating our people from terror and restoring peace.”
SODMA Commissioner Mahmoud Moalim Abdulle emphasized the importance of humanitarian support for communities affected by the conflict, while military sources confirmed that the offensive aims to secure strategic locations ahead of further stabilization efforts.
The Somali government has ramped up operations against Al-Shabaab in central regions, with Hirshabelle playing a pivotal role in the fight. As celebrations mingled with military resolve, officials expressed confidence in achieving a decisive victory.
