Government officials join thousands of people protesting against Ethiopian actions

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Prime Minister of the Federal Government, Hamza Abdi Barre and his Deputy, Salah Ahmed Jama on Thursday joined thousands of people from the 17th  districts of Benadir making protests against the Ethiopian Government’s action related to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia here in Mogadishu.

The demonstrators took to the main streets of the capital Mogadishu, from kelimeter 4 along Maka-al-mukarama road to Daljir-ka Dahsoon(the tomb) while federal and regional officials deliver speeches against so-called memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Somaliland and Ethiopia in Addis Ababa on January 1st, 2024

“Our sea is not for sale, Ethiopia must stop this aggression against our land and sea, Somalia belongs to Somalia”, protesters were chanting with these words while carrying posters written in Somali, English and Arabic.

Such demonstration happened in Hargeysa, Burco, Borama cities under Somaliland Administration and in Mogadishu, it hosts protest in its second time since emerging the sensitive MoU, giving 20 kilometer of sea acces o Ethiopia a week earlier.
