MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Gorgor Commandos of the Somali National Army (SNA) executed a series of strategic security operations across the Lower Shabelle region today. The offensive targeted specific areas known for insurgent activity, resulting in the successful interception of logistical supplies intended for the Al-Shabaab terror group.
The primary objective of the mission was to dismantle insurgent networks and restore safety to rural communities plagued by the group’s brutal tactics. During the sweep, the special forces discovered and confiscated a significant cache of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. Intelligence confirms that these supplies were being covertly transported to support militant units operating within the region.
The coordinated maneuvers covered the villages of Godey, Guumeys diid, and Aybuutey, which are strategically located within the Lower Shabelle region. Field reports indicate that the militants, unable to confront the advancing firepower and tactical superiority of the Gorgor units, abandoned their positions and fled the area prior to the arrival of the national forces.
This operation represents another blow to the logistical capabilities of the terror group, cutting off essential lifelines used to sustain their fighters. The Somali National Army continues to intensify its pressure on the insurgents, remaining resolute in its mission to eliminate the threat of terrorism and ensure long-term stability for the civilian population of Lower Shabelle.
