Dhusamareb, SONNA — Galmudug State Ministry of Relief has announced that communities and livestock in several areas of the Mudug Region have been severely affected by the ongoing drought in the country.
The Ministry said that the prolonged drought has had a devastating impact on people and animals, exacerbating humanitarian needs across affected districts of Mudug Region.
The Ministry highlighted that water shortages, loss of pasture, and declining livestock conditions have placed significant strain on livelihoods, particularly for pastoralist communities who depend heavily on livestock for survival.
The Galmudug State Ministry of Relief called for urgent humanitarian assistance to support affected populations, stressing the need for coordinated efforts to provide water, food aid, and emergency relief services.
The authorities also appealed to humanitarian partners, donors, and relevant institutions to scale up their response in order to mitigate the impact of the drought and prevent further deterioration of living conditions in the region.
The drought continues to pose a serious challenge across several parts of Somalia, with regional administrations and humanitarian agencies working to address its humanitarian consequences.
