MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Salah Khashta, at his office in Mogadishu today.

The high-level meeting was also attended by the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Major General Odowaa Yusuf Rage, highlighting the significance of the security dialogue between the two nations.

Discussions focused on reinforcing the deep-rooted historical ties between Somalia and Egypt, with a specific emphasis on advancing their strategic partnership in the defence sector. Both officials explored new avenues to enhance cooperation, including capacity building for the Somali armed forces and joint initiatives to promote regional stability.

Minister Fiqi welcomed Ambassador Khashta to Somalia and expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with Egypt to achieve mutual security goals. The meeting signals a continued strengthening of the military and diplomatic relationship between Mogadishu and Cairo at a critical time for regional security.
