Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalan Abdi Ali Dhaay welcomed the newly appointed British Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Charles King, in Mogadishu.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in the areas of security, politics, and development. The two officials held in-depth discussions on Somalia’s ongoing security transition and the critical role the United Kingdom plays in supporting the African Union’s new stabilization mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), which succeeded ATMIS.
Both sides agreed on the importance of continued UK support to peacekeeping forces, particularly in countering al-Shabaab and reinforcing overall national stability.
The meeting also underscored the mutual commitment of both countries to deepening diplomatic engagement and advancing shared goals in security, governance, and sustainable development.
