Mogadishu, Somalia – May 25, 2025: Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, received the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia and Head of the UN Transition Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), Ambassador James Swan, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
Ambassador Swan congratulated Minister Abdisalam on his recent appointment and reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to continued collaboration with the Federal Government of Somalia. He also outlined the UN’s transition plans in Somalia, focusing on governance, elections, human rights, and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Minister Abdisalam expressed gratitude for the UN’s ongoing support and emphasized the importance of deepening ties and strategic coordination between the Somali government and the United Nations.
