Mogadishu, SONNA – Members of both houses of the Federal Parliament convened for their 7th session, the second joint meeting, at Villa Hargeisa s, chaired by the Speaker of the House of the People, His Excellency Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madobe).
The session opened with a quorum of 140 members of the House of the People and 27 members of the Upper House, during which the 2024 financial report, prepared by the Ministry of Finance, was officially presented to Parliament by the Minister of Finance, His Excellency Bihi Iiman Egeh.
As part of the first reading, members were allowed to ask questions regarding the general principles of the report, while no formal debate took place. Minister Bihi Iman Egeh addressed the members’ queries during this stage.
At the conclusion of the session, Speaker Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe) instructed the Finance Committee of both houses to prepare the report for the second reading, which will include a full debate in the House.
This session highlights Parliament’s ongoing role in scrutinizing national financial policies and ensuring transparency in government spending.
