Federal Government Reaffirms Security Responsibilities Over The Safety of The Citizens

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Federal Government of Somalia has reiterated its constitutional responsibility to ensure the security and safety of its citizens, noting that this duty has been upheld through previously approved resolutions that clearly define security protocols and procedures for Aden Adde International Airport and the overall security of the capital, Mogadishu. These measures, the government says, have played a key role in maintaining the prevailing peace and stability.

The government expressed regret in informing the Somali public that some members of the Madasha Mustaqbalka (Future Forum), who were expected to participate in the national dialogue conference convened by the government and scheduled to take place in the capital on February 1, 2026, attempted this morning to transport armed personnel and weapons into Mogadishu by air. The purpose of these forces and weapons remains unclear.

According to the statement, this action constitutes a clear violation of the existing security resolutions and protocols, which are binding on all senior officials of the Federal Government of Somalia, leaders of Federal Member States, and former national leaders.

Government security agencies and the conference organizing committee formally informed representatives of the Future Forum that the entry of armed personnel and weapons without adhering to established security procedures and authorization processes is unacceptable.

The Federal Government of Somalia reaffirmed that its invitation and commitment to hosting the national dialogue remain unchanged. It urged members of the Future Forum to respect and comply with the agreed security protocols and procedures in order to ensure that the conference takes place in a peaceful, stable, and conducive environment for dialogue.
