Cairo, (SONNA) — The President of Egypt, H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Tuesday reaffirmed his country’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity as he received Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the presidential palace in Cairo.
Speaking during a joint press statement, the two leaders highlighted the historical ties between Egypt and Somalia and their cooperation in security and development. President El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s respect for Somalia’s sovereignty and non-interference in its internal affairs, underscoring the strategic importance of Somalia’s stability to the region.
The presidents also warned that illegal steps by Israel to recognise Somaliland violate international law and the charters of the United Nations and the African Union, cautioning that such moves risk fueling regional tensions and extremist activity.
President Mohamud thanked Egypt for its continued support for Somalia’s unity and state-building efforts.
